Sylvia and her sons, Sem and Stan

...
At a certain moment she moved out of the neighbourhood and so it came that she stayed over during lunchtime at my place. Just the two of us... I don't think my parents were always happy with us and the things we did. From bruised toes till shelves that came from the wall and drinks that were spread all over the place. Neither were her parents: finding parts of the egg-yellow at the ceiling after we had dinner in the kitchen ;-)

Oooh, and the fights we could have...!  I remember ending up totally upside down on the floor, after she had thrown over my school desk, because I had made a remark about her glasses. Quite a temperament that girl had (and has) hahaha (The irony is that did I got glasses myself only few years later). We did a lot together: gymnastics, swimming and we even had dance lessons together. I remember we sometimes changed clothes in the toilets of the dance school. It was so not 'cool' to wear a skirt, so we came in our jeans and left in them....

We went also to the same high school but ended up in different classes. That didn't matter for our friendship. We both made other friends but stayed always in very good contact. She was my best 'man' at my wedding. Nowadays she is married herself and has two lovely sons. We see each other unfortunately seldom and the contact might not be tight, but it's always there.  When we talk or write, no matter how long it has been, it always feels like  yesterday. I would not want to miss her as my friend for any gold on the world!
