Tinky and her kids came into my life, short after my divorce in 1999. The assumption was that she was thrown out by her old owners after they found out she was pregnant. The vet thought she was around one year old when that happened. She was really used to people, and was very cuddling. Where her kids were very shy, she accepted strangers quite quickly. In spite of her experience she kept confident towards humans. When she didn't get the attention she wanted, she started to bump into you with her head, just like she wanted to say: "Hey! I am here, give me a hug!" Her favourite place to sleep was next to my pillow. Not that she was always allowed in the bedroom; only during the time that I lived alone, and after her kids were a little older (those had a tendency to use the bed as a playing-field...). |

After I moved together with Geir Olav, she became slowly thinner. Her
appetite was normal though and there was no change in her behaviour. It
was almost not visible that there was something wrong. Still... I didn't
feel comfortable with this little fairy of mine loosing weight, so we
went to the vet. He couldn't find anything but was clearly worried and
took some blood tests. The values that came out could point to two kind
of disease: FIP (a dangerous and incurable virus), or cancer. He wanted
to operate her first thing in the morning. That evening we said goodbye
to Tinky, with fear in our heart. It was the last time we saw her alive.
My little fairy died on the 18th of February, 2005. Age: only 6 years. (On the 3rd of March we got the results of the tissue examinations: Tinky died from a very aggressive form of cancer, which couldn't be cured anyhow. According to the vet, we were 'just in time'.
